One of Canada’s most celebrated ballet stars faces the emotional trauma of retirement. “It’s like a small death,” says Rex Harrington. “You have to say goodbye to an aspect of yourself.” The dancer, now 42, attributes his success to an unhappy childhood marked by his parents’ acrimonious divorce. “I think that’s what compelled me to be where I am,” he explains. “To find love, to be on stage, to feel an audience caring for me.”
