Screening Week 3, 2014 Season

Films are screened under the stars, beneath towering redwoods in a natural outdoor amphitheater, just steps from the Pacific Ocean. Doors open at 8pm and the films start as soon as it is dark enough. Dress in layers, bring blankets and a picnic and don't forget your appetite for the world's best popcorn!

Hikari ('Glow')

By: Lu Hanny , USA

“Hikari”, meaning “light” and “glow” in Japanese. I draw on inspirations ranging from "Kodama" in the Japanese mythology to the interconnection of all life from the term "Tree of Life." In an effort to explore the idea of combining natural symbols and their corresponding lighting in a more extended way, I would like to create a new world by generating sentimental images with the animation medium. Using a minimalist black-and-white style, the short follows the story of a glowing ball and its own followers emerging later on.
